Embodiment of Courage

This is a story about Mi Hyon Kim and her courage.

I met Mi Hyon in 2017 during a RESPONSIVE BODY workshop I was co-teaching with Elizabeth Chitty in Boulder Colorado. During this first encounter it was challenging for Mi Hyon to make it through a full day of the workshop, often needing to regulate by laying down under a blanket. Sometimes her voice disappeared and she could only speak in the tenderness of her emotional body by being present as a “shaping” or “embodied form”, at times wordless but always communicating with great clarity.

Mi Hyon is now teaching.

She has returned to S.Korea to continue her work in somatic-based therapies leading workshops in both Korean and English. She boldly shares RB body liberation practices in her teaching and has recently been invited to share her dancing as a performance offering in an upcoming community workshop.

She is the embodiment of courage.

Her body once sought comfort hidden under the cloak of a blanket and now her body not only tolerates the light of her own existence it has become a searchlight for other brave bodies finding their way from darkness.

Congratulations Mi Hyon! You are a badass love ninja!
